One week in June, 2006, twenty-five songwriters from across the U.S. filled the old Holiday Motel in Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin with a purpose in mind: To save an old bridge.
Songwriting teams formed in a game of spin the bottle. Songs were written fast and captured fresh in a makeshift studio in one of the rooms. New groups formed as more flooded the town, and Steel Bridge Songfest 2 culminated in an all-day waterside concert headlined by Jackson Browne.
The 15 selections on this disc bring the message, convey the fun, and immortalize the spirit of Steel Bridge Songfest. The writers and artists all volunteered their time, energy, and creativity to this project. Proceeds and royalties will be donated to the Steel Bridge Fund held by the National Trust for Historic Preservation.
